On Monday morning, the last 17 duets competed for a spot in the semifinals of the Doubles category in the European Women Bowling Championships 2024.
Yesterday, In Squad 1, Sweden's Nora Johansson, the Singles Event champion, and Josefin Hermansson, the bronze medalist, took an early lead in Doubles, scoring a total of 2620 pins with an average of 218.3. Their score held strong, but today, in Squad 3, Germany's duet Franziska Czech and Sabrina Laub managed to top that with a total pinfall of 2633 and an average of 219.4. This score allowed Germany to secure the No. 1 seed for the upcoming EWC 2024 Doubles semifinals, which will be held later today.
IIn the semifinal, Germany's duet will face No. 4 seed Beaudine Kriele and Denise Blankenzee, who finished strong with a score of 2553 pins (212.8 average) in Squad 3 today to secure second place.
In another semifinal, Sweden's pair Nora Johansson and Josefin Hermansson will face Finland's Jenni Heino and Eliisa Hiltunen, who were the best in Squad 2 with a score of 2555 (average 212.9), placing them third overall in the Doubles event standings.
European Women Bowling Championships 2024 will continue today with the Doubles finals.
