Singapore’s New Hui Fen claimed her second career title and $10,000 at the 2024 PWBA Greater Detroit Open, defeating teammate Cherie Tan 212-206 in a close final at Thunderbowl Lanes.

This victory marks New’s first PWBA win since 2016.

New secured the No. 1 seed with a 9-3 record in match play, averaging over 224. In the title match, she stayed clean throughout, taking advantage of a fifth-frame error by Tan to secure the win. Tan finished as runner-up, earning $5,000.

England’s Verity Crawley ended in sixth place and Latvia’s Diana Zavjalova in eighth.

The PWBA Pepsi Open, the second event of Tour Championship Week, starts Friday with a similar format.
