Shannon Pluhowsky claimed the PWBA Music City Classic title at the Smyrna Bowling Center, concluding the PWBA Classic Series – Nashville with an exhilarating performance.
Entering as the No. 1 seed after a stellar match play total of 6,188 pins, including 540 bonus pins for 17 wins and two ties, Pluhowsky faced Stefanie Johnson in the finals.
Johnson's early struggles, including two open frames, allowed Pluhowsky to build a lead. Despite a late comeback attempt from Johnson, a failed 3-10 split conversion in the ninth frame left the door open for Pluhowsky. Pluhowsky then left a split in her final frame, but clinched the title with a mark in the 10th, finishing at 204 to Johnson's 193.
Pluhowsky's victory earned her a $12,000 top prize, her second title of the season and fourth overall, while Johnson took home $6,000 for her runner-up finish.
The stepladder finals kicked off with Missy Parkin against Bryanna Coté. Coté triumphed with nine consecutive strikes, defeating Parkin 279-223.
Coté then faced Singapore’s Cherie Tan, who was aiming for her second win in the Classic Series. Despite Coté's strong start, Tan’s consistent strikes led to a 236-204 victory.
In the semifinals, Johnson's seven consecutive strikes overwhelmed Tan, securing Johnson's place in the final with a 257-214 win.
Tan finished third, earning $4,000, while Coté secured fourth place and $3,000. Parkin finished fifth, taking home $2,600.
