Singapore’s New Hui Fen claimed her second title in three days by winning the 2025 PWBA Rock ‘n’ Roll Open at Yorktown Lanes, defeating Latvia’s Diana Zavjalova 237–187 in the championship match.
It marks New’s fourth career PWBA title and closes out a dominant week in Parma Heights, where she also won the BowlTV Open.
New becomes the first player to win consecutive PWBA titles since Jordan Snodgrass accomplished the feat in 2023. Singaporean advanced through three rounds of match play on Monday, starting with a 3–2 win over Sweden’s Anneli Blomqvist in the Round of 16, followed by a 3–0 sweep of Jillian Martin. In the semifinal, she narrowly edged tournament leader Snodgrass 245–244 after converting a key pin in the 10th frame.
Snodgrass had entered match play as the No. 1 seed after setting a new 12-game PWBA qualifying record with 3,018 pins. Her semifinal finish earned her $3,475.
Zavjalova reached the finals after a strong showing in the bracket, highlighted by a 267–234 win over Julia Bond in the semifinal. Bond had earlier rolled a perfect 300 in her Round of 8 match against Kirsten Moore, making the twelfth perfect game in the PWBA Summer Series.
Zavjalova took home $5,000 for her second-place finish, while Bond also earned $3,475.
In the title match, New built a lead after five frames and pulled away with four consecutive strikes in the second half. Zavjalova struggled with carry late in the game, finishing with 187 to New’s 237.
The victory secured New the $10,000 top prize and positioned her as the current front-runner for PWBA Player of the Year.
This win wrapped up the PWBA Summer Series in Parma Heights. The tour continues in Waterloo, Iowa, with the 2025 PWBA Bowlers Journal Waterloo Open beginning June 5.
