After yesterday's battle in Men's Doubles, where the Netherlands claimed gold, the 2025 European Senior Bowling Championship shifted to the women’s side. A total of 47 duets competed for another set of medals in Leipzig.
Germany’s Antje Materne and Michaela Göbel-Janka, both of whom won Singles medals on Monday, dominated the Women’s Doubles event, securing gold by winning the qualification, semifinal, and final rounds. In qualification, the German duo posted a total of 2,426, earning the No. 1 seed. They then defeated the Czech Republic’s Jana Lébrová and Ivana Fojtíková 435-373 in the semifinals. In the final, Germany’s pair overcame France’s Marie-Noelle Morand and Fély Wisniewski in a low-scoring match, 353-321. Earlier, in the semifinals, the French duo had edged out Finland’s Tuula Tamminen and Reija Lundén 361-338.
The Men’s and Women’s Team competitions kick off tomorrow with the first three-game block in each category.
