The two-day competition in the Singles category of the European Women Bowling Championships 2024 started today. A total of 105 athletes from 21 countries will compete for a chance to inscribe their names among the greats in the EWC Olympus.
The first 36 players bowled six games today in the Squad 1 for a chance to be among the top four and advance to the Singles event semifinals tomorrow.
Despite the challenging conditions at the Cristal Bowling in Wittelsheim, France, Sweden’s Nora Johansson took a huge lead with an impressive 1494 total (249 avg.) during the first qualification squad. She leads the closest competitor by more than 200 pins.
Germany's Nadine Meier joined the top ranks, scoring 1268 over six qualification games and currently holding the second position. Stephanie Dubourg started a little sloppy but bounced back with an impressive 290 in game four and 249 in game six, scoring a total of 1266 to finish in third. Mariana Meteksinova of Bulgaria scored 1231 and currently holds the fourth position.
