The European Men’s Bowling Championships 2025 are just around the corner, and the latest update from Aalborg, Denmark is all about the oil pattern.
During the official Team Managers Meeting, it was revealed that players will compete on a 47-foot pattern with 31.7ml of oil volume and a 1.92:1 ratio. This setup is expected to challenge even the most experienced bowlers, demanding accuracy and control from the very first shot.

Hosted at Lövvang Bowling Center from June 6 to 14, the tournament will bring together bowlers from 30 countries. Medals will be awarded in six categories: Singles, Doubles, Trios, Teams, All-Event, and Masters.
The singles and doubles competitions kick things off, with each bowler playing six qualifying games. In singles, the top four scorers move on to the semifinals, where first plays fourth and second faces third. The winners meet in the final, and all matches from semis onward are decided in a single game. The doubles event follows the same structure, but total scores are based on both players’ games.
For the trios, players bowl six games each—three on Tuesday and three on Wednesday. The top four trios enter the semifinals, followed by a final match later the same evening.
The team event runs in a similar way, but with matches split between Thursday and Friday. All players again bowl six games, and the highest-scoring four teams compete for medals.
The All-Events medal goes to the player with the highest total score from all 24 games played in singles, doubles, trios, and team events.
The top 24 athletes in All-Events standings qualify for the Masters, a knockout competition decided in best-of-three matches. Seeds 9 through 24 begin in the first round. The winners then join the top eight seeds in round two. From there, bowlers battle through five elimination stages to crown the Masters champion on the final day.
With a packed schedule from June 6 to 14, fans can expect exciting matches every day. All games will be played in the heart of Aalborg at the well-known Lövvang Bowling Center, a venue that has hosted Kegel Aalborg International Open, which concluded with England's Ben Robinson's victory on May 25th.
