The Kegel Aalborg International 2025 has come to a close at Lövvang Bowling Centre in Aalborg, Denmark, with England’s Ben Robinson claiming the title after a thrilling final against Denmark’s Jesper Agerbo.
Speaking after his victory, Ben described the experience as one he didn’t expect coming into the event.
“It’s a very surreal feeling right now, coming into the weekend I did not expect such success expecially with the reputation the alley has and how the masters went.” In the final match, Agerbo started strong, keeping the pressure on Robinson through the early frames. But from the fourth frame on, Robinson went on a tear, delivering seven strikes in a row to flip the match in his favor.
When asked if he felt like the trophy could slip through your hands in the final, Robinson said that his focus was elsewhere.
“I was telling myself to just trust my shots and if it’s meant to be it will be, no thinking about the end result until it’s over”
Finally, Robinson sealed the win with a 256–234 victory, lifting the trophy and the €10,000 top prize. Agerbo earned €7,000 for his runner-up finish.
This marks Robinson's third EBT Tour title.
Robinson’s road to the title was impressive from the start. He topped the entire 212-player qualification field with a total score of 1485 over six games in Squad 12, securing a direct spot in Final Step 2. There, he placed second in Pool 1 to move on to Final Step 3, where he led his group of six to advance to the championship match.
Even though he led the field from start to finish, Robinson shared that he did not expect that at all, especially after the EBT Masters earlier this week where he finished eighth. "Coming into the weekend I did not expect such success especially with the reputation the alley has and how the Masters went."
Jesper Agerbo took a different but equally dramatic route to the final.
Starting from Final Step 1, he posted 1071 across five games to reach Step 2. There, two roll-offs were needed to decide who would move forward, and Agerbo prevailed in a close battle against Carl Eklund and Bjørn Saksager Jensen. In Final Step 3, Agerbo was in top form, sweeping through his group to earn his place in the final.
The Kegel Aalborg International is one of the key stops on the European Bowling Tour and holds EBF Gold status. The event regularly attracts top international talent.
We’ll update this article with Ben Robinson’s comments once we receive his post-event reflections.
