On Tuesday, at the Fiesta Bowling Center in Incheon, Korea, the match-play round and the semifinals were played in the Girls' and Boys' Teams events of the 2024 World Youth Championships.
2024 World Youth Championships Girls' & Boys' Teams Matchplay Overview
In the match-play rounds, the 16 qualifiers were divided into two groups of eight. They engaged in seven round-robin matches, where each win earned 3 points, and a draw netted 1 point. The top two pairs from each group advanced to the semifinals based on their accumulated points.
Girls' Teams Event
In the Girls' Team event, as in the Doubles, the semifinalists were decided only after a tie-breaker one-game roll-off. In Group A, Singapore took first place with 15 points, winning five out of seven round-robin matches. Four other teams—Colombia, the United States, the Czech Republic, and Korea—entered a roll-off battle, as all four teams finished with 12 points by winning 4 out of 7 matches. In the roll-off, Colombia scored 231, defeating the United States (209), Korea (163), and the Czech Republic (179) to advance to the semifinals as the second seed in Group A.
In Group B, the second semifinalist was also declared only after a tie-breaker. Malaysia accumulated 18 points, losing only once in 7 round-robin games, and could calmly wait for the semifinals as the top seed. Norway and Canada battled for the last ticket to the semifinals, with Norway (200) defeating Canada (169) in the tie-breaker to advance.
Boys' Teams Event
In Group A of the Boys' Event, the Czech team won six out of seven round-robin matches to earn the top place in the group with 18 points. The United States (258) defeated Germany (224) in a tie-breaker roll-off to advance to the semifinals as the second seed.
In Group B, Korea and Japan both collected 15 points, but the hosts earned the top seed due to a higher pin count.
