On Saturday at the Fiesta Bowling Center in Incheon, Korea, the second and third Boys' Doubles qualification squads took place for the 2024 World Youth Championships.
Sixteen top doubles teams advanced to the match-play round after ten qualification games in the Baker format.
Sweden's Alex Joki and Robin Noberg emerged as the standout performers, leading the pack with an impressive total pinfall of 2317. The Team USA pair, Jacob Bockstie and Brandon Bohn, scored 2283 to finish second. Two German pairs, Max Lorenz and Paul Purps, and Maris Materne and Zeno Janssen, took the third and fourth places with scores of 2255 and 2245 pins, respectively. Korea's Jiho Shin and Yonghun Cho rounded out the top five with 2232 pins.
Alongside the leading Swedes and two German pairs in the top five, six more doubles teams from Europe advanced to the match-play round. Rami Mukkula and Karo Hilokoski from Finland finished in sixth place with a total of 2228 pins. Slovak pairs Martin Malcho and Šimon Jaroš took ninth, while Dávid Barak and Šimon Hrušovský finished in fourteenth. Robin Ilhammar and Carl Eklund of Sweden took tenth place, Aron Hafthorsson and Mikael Aron Vilhelmsson from Iceland took eleventh, while Czechs Ondrej Trojek and Lukáš Jelínek secured the sixteenth spot.
In the Matchplay Rounds, the qualifiers will be divided into two groups of eight. They will engage in seven round-robin matches, with each win earning 3 points and a draw earning 1 point. The top two pairs from each group will advance to the semi-finals based on their accumulated points.
