16 Girls' Doubles Advance at 2024 World Youth Championships


2024 World Youth Championships at the Girls Doubles event

On Saturday night at the Fiesta Bowling Center in Incheon, Korea, the second Girls' Doubles qualification squad took place for the 2024 World Youth Championships.


Sixteen top doubles teams advanced to the match-play round after ten qualification games in the Baker format.


Singapore's Arianne Tay and Colleen Pee emerged as the standout performers, leading the pack with an impressive total pinfall of 2239 (223.9 avg.). No other team came close to the Singaporean pair, with Japan's Riria Hamasaki and Kiri Watanabe scoring 2116 (211.6 avg.) to finish second. Sweden's Maja Engberg and Nora Johansson scored 2079 (207.9 avg.) to finish third. Two Malaysian pairs, Adelia Nur Irwan Syazalee and Nur Hazirah Ramli, and Anis Hannani Romzi and Adania Mohd Redzwan, rounded out the top five with scores of 2053 and 2041 pins, respectively.


Alongside the Swedish pair, two more doubles teams from Europe advanced to the match-play round. Maxine Bolek and Fiona Lindemann finished in ninth place with a total of 1966, while Singles finalist Stella Lökfors and Tiiamari Laukkanen ended in fourteenth place with a total of 1910.


In the Matchplay Rounds, the qualifiers will be divided into two groups of eight. They will engage in seven round-robin matches, with each win earning 3 points and a draw earning 1 point. The top two pairs from each group will advance to the semi-finals based on their accumulated points.


Stay tuned for more updates as the competition progresses with the Boys' Doubles qualification. Two more squads will compete later today. Currently, Sweden's Alex Joki and Robin Noberg lead the competition with a pinfall of 2317. Rami Mukkula and Karo Hilokoski hold the second spot with 2228, while Korea's Junghun Bae and Seongtak Kim are in third with a total of 2222.
