In the electrifying lead-up to the PBA Scorpion Championship finals, Swedish bowling sensation Jesper Svensson secured the final ticket to the stepladder finals, set to grace our screens at 1 AM CET on FS1 next Wednesday.
Alongside Svensson, bowling heavyweights Jason Belmonte, Keven Williams, Packy Hanrahan, and Matt Russo are poised for an unforgettable all two-handed showdown.
The four contenders who emerged victorious in their Round of 16 and Round of 8 matchups - Russo, Hanrahan, Williams, and Belmonte - have advanced to the stepladder finals based on their qualifying position. Svensson, despite losing in the Round of 8, secured the fifth seed as the highest qualifier.
In a nail-biting finale to the qualifying rounds, Russo's last-minute surge snatched the top spot from Svensson's grasp. While falling short by just four pins in the final game against Russo was a tough blow for Svensson, his consistent performance throughout the 15 games proved to be decisive in the very end.
During the 15 games of qualification, Swensson scored 3635 total (242.33 avg.) and finished second. After defeating Ryan Ciminelli in the Round of 16, Svensson earned the wild-card berth as the highest qualifier among players defeated in the Round of 8.
PBA Scorpion Championship stepladder finals marks Svensson’s first singles show of the season and first top-five finish in the U.S. since last season’s PBA Scorpion Championship.
The PBA Scorpion Championship finals will air Tuesday, April 17 at 1 AM CET on FS1. Results can be found here.
