Singapore swept the Singles events at the 22nd Asian Youth Tenpin Bowling
Championships in Petaling Jaya, Malaysia.
Aiman Raedyn Lim Jen won
the Boys’ Singles title while Hazel Tan Wei Ning took the Girls’ Singles
crown.
In the boys’ division, Korea’s Kim Woo Jin started strongly with games of 259,
279, and 299 to build a big lead. But a low fourth game of 162 opened the door
for his rivals.
Korea’s Bae Su Hyeon stayed close and Qatar’s
Talal Al Marri also moved up with strong finishes. In the last game,
Singapore’s Lim rolled 249 to seal the gold with 1436. Bae finished second
with 1422, and Al Marri secured bronze with 1400.
The girls’ division saw several early leaders, including Malaysia’s Adania Mohd Redzwan and Japan’s Ako Takahashi.
Singapore’s Hazel Tan had a slow start but recovered with consistent games of 237, 236, and 237 to climb the standings. She closed with 224 and 216 to take the gold medal with 1328.
Korea’s Paek Ye Dam earned silver with 1297, and Malaysia’s Qurratu Ain Izdihar took bronze with 1293.
The championships will continue with the Doubles events tomorrow, while the Team events will be staged over two blocks on August 24 and 25.
After eighteen qualifying games, the top 16 boys and top 16 girls in the All-Event standings will qualify for the Masters finals, scheduled for August 26 and 27.
The Masters finals will conclude with a Stepladder Shootout. The top three boys and the top three girls from the Masters will compete for the championship titles.
The tournament will run from August 20 to 27, 2025, with 56 boys, 32 girls, and 38 team officials taking part from fourteen countries.
