The Professional Women’s Bowling Association (PWBA) is gearing up for the anniversary 2025 season, introducing several transformative changes aimed at enhancing player participation and accessibility.
With the removal of the PWBA membership program and adjustments to tournament rules and policies, the upcoming season marks a significant shift in how players engage with the sport.
Key Changes for PWBA 2025
Elimination of PWBA Membership
Effective December 31, 2024, PWBA membership is no longer required to compete in events. Athletes can now focus on opportunities outside PWBA without limitations while maintaining compliance with tournament and USBC rules.
New Registration System
Registration for PWBA events will open six weeks prior to each tournament. A priority system ensures early access for Hall of Famers, National Champions, and the Top 50 players from the previous season’s points list.
Standardized Entry Fees
To simplify participation, all competitors will pay the same entry fees:
National events: $350
Regional events: $150
Major events: $500
Prize Fund Adjustments
With the elimination of membership fees, prize funds will reflect slight changes, balanced by the revised entry fee structure.
Player Equipment Transport Priority
Equipment transport on the PWBA truck will prioritise Hall of Famers, National Champions, and Top 50 players, with other participants gaining access as space allows.
Logo Policy Updates
Players can now wear any logo, as long as it adheres to tournament guidelines and does not conflict with PWBA, USBC, or BPAA sponsors.
Support for Student-Athletes
High school and college athletes can compete while complying with school policies regarding cash prizes or scholarships through the S.M.A.R.T. program.
These updates are more than just procedural changes—according to decision makers, they represent a step forward for the PWBA. By getting rid of PWBA membership fees and streamlining the registration process, more players can step into the spotlight.
Moreover, starting in 2026, PWBA’s professional membership designation will influence eligibility and team divisions in USBC national tournaments, with more updates to follow as the rules are finalised.
