Last night, Sweden's Markus Jansson continued his impressive run at the 2024 USBC Masters in Las Vegas, clinching the No. 1 seed in match play after a strong qualifying performance. Jansson ended qualifying with a final block total of 1,131, totaling 3,508 over three days with an average of 233.87.
With the field now narrowed down to 64 players from the initial 465 at the Suncoast Bowling Center, anticipation builds for intense competition as bowlers vie for the prestigious third major title on the 2024 season.
The qualification round was quite successful for the European bowlers as nine of them managed to advance to the match play round which will start at 6 PM CET on Thursday.
Leading the charge alongside Jansson are notable contenders like EJ Tackett, who secured the second seed with a total pinfall of 3,496. Australia's Sam Cooley, Justin Veitch, and Carlos Granados, round out the top five heading into match play.
Anthony Simonsen, the defending champion, finished Wednesday's final round in 26th place with a total score of 3,331. As the defending champion, he was guaranteed a spot in the match-play round regardless of his ranking.
The stage is set for thrilling double-elimination match play beginning Thursday, with all eyes on the stepladder finals scheduled for March 31. As the tournament unfolds, the journey to crown the 2024 USBC Masters champion promises gripping action and unforgettable moments on the lanes.
