Kim Bolleby led the competition from start to finish to win the 17th Storm San Marino Open 2023 bowling tournament.
The eighteen-lane Rose’n Bowl venue gathered nearly 200 participants from all corners of Europe, competing for the eighth EBT title this season and a prize fund of 62,100 euros.
After a week filled with fierce competition on extreme hot weather with the high humidity in the event, the four best bowlers—Kim Bolleby, Lukas Jelinek, Essi Pakarinen, and Antonio Fiorentino—advanced to the final elimination round.
After game one, Italian Antonio Fiorentino was the first to drop out finishing fourth, acompanied with the only female bowler finalist Essi Pakarinen a game later.
The final match between Sweden's Kim Bolleby and Lukas Jelinek from the Czech Republic promised a spectacular display of bowling for the audience, as Bolleby held a mere four-pin advantage over his competitor, after first two games.
Sweden's one-handed lefty started the final match with a double, while Jelinek stuggled to find his pace, missing twice in his first three frames. Bolleby maintained his lead throughout the entire game and clinched his fourth EBT title along with a 8,000 euro prize check, finishing series with a final result of 738-704.
'Happy to finish it of this time. Very proud of the execution and really stayed in the moment,' Kim Bolleby wrote on his social media after the win.
The European Bowling Tour now moves to Spain, as the Brunswick Madrid Challenge kicked off on July 15th.
