The Singles event at the European Men's Bowling Championships 2025 wrapped up on Saturday evening with a powerful display from Italy’s Antonino Fiorentino, who defeated France’s Gaëtan Mouveroux in the final with a commanding 277–150 victory at Lövvang Bowling Center in Aalborg, Denmark.
Fiorentino’s path to the title began earlier in the day during qualification squad 3, where he rolled a strong six-game total of 1372 (211, 221, 228, 214, 229, 269), which earned him the No. 3 seed and a place in the semifinals.
In the semifinal match, Fiorentino faced No. 2 seed Valentin Saulnier of France and advanced with a 246–204 win.
On the other side of the bracket, Gaëtan Mouveroux pulled off a surprise upset against top seed Juhani Tonteri of Finland, who had dominated the qualifiers on Friday with a score of 1407. Mouveroux won their match 238–199.
The gold medal match belonged entirely to Fiorentino, who delivered strike after strike to leave no doubt. With a final score of 277–150, he secured his first individual gold medal at the European Men's Championships.
This win completes a personal milestone for Fiorentino. He now becomes the only Italian bowler to claim European titles in Singles, Doubles, and Trios.
Fiorentino previously won Doubles gold with Nicola Pangolini in 2023 and Trios gold in 2019 and 2022 alongside Pangolini and Alessandro Santtu.
The victory is also historic for Team Italy, marking the nation’s first Singles gold at the European Men’s Championships since Enrico Maddaloni’s triumph back in 1981.
The action in Aalborg continues on Sunday as the Doubles competition begins.
Four squads are scheduled over the next two days, with the top four teams advancing to Monday evening’s semifinals and final.
