On Tuesday morning, the Girls Doubles event took off at the Plus Bowling Center in the Austrian capital Vienna.
Four teams of two advanced to the semi-finals after the first six qualification games.
Stella Lökfors & Tiiamari Laukkanen of Finland sat atop of Girls Doubles qualification with a score of 2472.
Elissa Mehmet & Kajsa Samuelsson of Sweden (2406 pinfall), Sanne Ørdal & Jenny Mathiesen (2397 pinfall) of Norway, and Maja Engberg & Elin Bergqvist (2372 pinfall) of Sweden joined them in a race for gold medals.
Although Finns Stella Lökfors & Tiiamari Laukkanen were the best duo in the qualification round, they had no chance against stellar Maja Engberg & Elin Bergqvist performance. M. Engberg fired the second perfect game in the EYC 2023, E. Bergqvist added 247, and Sweden overcame Finland 547-351. It was the highest score game among all Doubles (including Boys Doubles yesterday).
In the other semi-final, second Swedish duet of Elissa Mehmet & Kajsa Samuelsson defeated Sanne Ørdal & Jenny Mathiesen of Norway in a close game fight with a result of 353-350 to replicate Sweden's yesterday's success in Boys Doubles, with both country's duos reaching the finals.
In the final game, Elissa Mehmet & Kajsa Samuelsson overcame their compatriots seizing the title with a tough 375-368 victory and proved to be the best this year in the Girls Doubles event.
Tiiamari Laukkanen of Finland made a stunning performance during the first six qualification games. Seventeen-year-old scored 1346 total (224.3 avg.) to lead the Girls All-Event category.

All championship activities will be held from the 2nd of April to the 9th of April 2023. A total of 30 European bowling federations and 168 youth athletes participate in the event.
