England's Dom Barrett with a chance to advance to the Roth/Holman PBA Doubles Championship finals

The Roth/Holman PBA Doubles Championship continues today, with the top twelve doubles competing in the second round of qualifying for the four spots at the stepladder finals.


After the first round of match play, England's Dom Barrett with his comrade Anthony Simonsen is in third place. This duo won five of six match plays, to grant 92 pins advantage from the cut, with six remaining games to go.


Australian Jason Belmonte and American Bill O'Neill moved from the last place of the top 12 to fourth during today's first six games of baker doubles. The Ausamerican duo is the only one to score a perfect game so far. They did it in fashion, winning a match play game against No. 3 seed Kuba / Davidson with a final result of 279-300.


Six more teams are within 106 pins of fourth place, still in a race for the stepladder finals.


The Lavery-Spahr / Tahvanainen double is one of them, currently standing in ninth place with -104 pins from the cut. A talented bowler from the small town of Ylöjärvi, Finland, won only two of six match play games with his teammate but are ready to step up in the remaining six games of qualifying round 2.



Patrick Hanrahan and Mitch Hupé continued their spectacular bowling to remain in the lead in the first round of match play. The former Wichita State Shocker teammates lost only once to keep their rivals at a safe distance behind them with +310 from the cut.


The stepladder finals will begin at midnight CET. The winners of the Roth/Holman PBA Doubles Championship will take home a $20,000 prize.
