England's Verity Crawley and Hadley Morgan won the European Championship of Champions 2024 Mixed Doubles event at the Bowling National Center in Bratislava, Slovakia.
The English duo achieved an impressive combined score of 3663 (228.9 avg.). Morgan knocked down 1901 pins, while Crawley contributed 1762, securing victory by a significant margin. Slovakia's David Barak and Kristina Sramkova, who finished second, scored nearly 200 pins fewer than the champions, with a total of 3475 (217.2 avg.). Sweden's Jenny Wegner and Adam Andersson, who bowled the event’s second perfect game during game 6 of squad 2, took third place with a total score of 3468 (216.8 avg.).
The games played during the Mixed Doubles event also counted towards each player's individual qualifying games.
After 16 qualifying games, Romania's Mihai Dragnia leads the men's division with a total of 3672, following an outstanding 8-game block today, individually scoring 1941 pins. Sweden's Adam Andersson is second with 3660, while England's Hadley Morgan holds third with 3641.
In the women's division, England's Verity Crawley currently leads with a total score of 3463. Germany's Franziska Czech is second with 3371, and Ireland's Hannah Masterson rounds out the top three with 3330.
In total, ECC 2024 will feature four 8-game blocks, played from October 21st to 25th, to determine the top 12 advancers in both the men's and women's categories.
After the qualification rounds, the top 12 bowlers in each category will play another 8-game block to determine the semifinalists. During the semifinals and finals, match play will follow a best-of-three format to crown this year's champions.
