As the BowlingGP France Senior 2024 heats up, the excitement at Bowling Plaza Rouen is palpable. With each passing squad, competitors are stepping up their game, and the stakes couldn't be higher. During Day 3, spectators saw fierce competition as three exciting qualification squads took place at Bowling Plaza Rouen Grand-Quevilly on Friday.
Squad 8 Highlights
Geert-Jan van Baest put on a remarkable show, securing the win with an outstanding total of 1541, while also topping the Scratch series for the squad. Marine Lancien also delivered a commendable performance, finishing with a solid score of 1294, making her the top female performer in this squad. Johan Åberg achieved the best Scratch score with a 277 game, and Joël Rost claimed the Best Local Player award in Squad 8 with a total of 1416.
Squad 9 Highlights
Sweden's Johan Åberg was the one who took the victory in Squad 9 with an impressive total score of 1468, also securing the top spot in the Scratch series. Veronique Perniaux posted 1279 to claim a squad win in the Women's division. In Squad 9, Norway's Ingar Gabrielsen came close to perfection in game 5, delivering the highest Scratch result with a 279 game, while Pierre Prou earned the Best Local Player award in Squad 9 with a total of 1416!
Squad 10 Highlights
Ingar Gabrielsen closed out Friday's competition with a strong win in Squad 10, posting an impressive total of 1491. Brigitte Fievet claimed the top spot in the Women's division with a score of 1349. Hurri Kari not only delivered the highest Scratch score with a 278 game but also won the Scratch series with a total of 1451. Annette Leroy earned the Best Local Player award in Squad 10, finishing with a total score of 1041.
The competition is intensifying with three more qualification squads lined up for tomorrow, starting at 8 AM local time.
Over 140 senior bowlers, aged 50 and above, from 15 different countries are competing in this International Senior Bowling Tour (ISBT) event, officially recognized by both the European Bowling Federation (EBF) and the International Bowling Federation (IBF).
The €33,000 prize pool, including €3,000 each for the top men’s and women’s champions, ensures this tournament is a highlight of the 2024 senior bowling calendar.
