The future of European bowling takes center stage next week as the inaugural BowlingGP 4 Teams Youth 2025 tournament rolls into Thillois, France. Hosted at Bowling Plaza Reims Thillois from April 26–27, this new event is dedicated entirely to young athletes, offering a dynamic weekend of team, doubles, and individual competitions.
Who Can Participate?
The tournament is open to athletes from all EBF member countries, divided into four age groups:
Under 14 (U14)
Under 17 (U17)
Under 21 (U21)
Under 25 (U25)
Teams consist of four players with a free choice of composition—gender and age combinations are fully open. This allows for flexible team setups, promoting inclusivity and team spirit among youth bowlers.
Tournament Format and Schedule
Saturday kicks off with three games of team qualification, followed by the mixed doubles competition in two blocks. The top four doubles pairs will advance to the finals later that evening, played in Baker format.
On Sunday, the remaining 3 games of team qualification will start the day, later the attention will shift to individual competition, where the top eight male and female bowlers—ranked by combined scores from team and doubles—face off in one-game match play to determine the semifinalists and then - All Event champions.
The day concludes with the top 16 teams returning for final bracket matches, again using the Baker format, wrapping up with a podium ceremony and a friendly closing gathering.
Bonus Points and Competitive Balance
To promote youth development and maintain competitive balance, the event includes bonus pins based on age categories:
U14: +50 pins per game
U17: +30 pins per game
U21: +15 pins per game
U25: no bonus
Additionally, women receive an 8-pin bonus per game throughout the event.
Limited Spots and Registration Details
Only 22 teams will be accepted, with registration closing on April 25 or once capacity is reached. The entry fee is €240 per team, and payment is required to secure a spot. The event is organized by BowlingGP and Plaza Bowling, with full event info, rules, and accommodation options available at www.bowlinggp.com.
A New Platform for Europe’s Rising Stars
