Bowling is set to make its first appearance at the African Games in 2027, which will be hosted in Egypt. This development was announced at a recent press conference in Accra,Ghana, where officials from the Ghana Bowling Federation (GBF) and the International Bowling Federation (IBF) outlined their plans to popularize the sport across Africa.

Currently, 11 African countries have established bowling federations. According to Mr. Farouk Haridi, President of the African Bowling Federation, the goal is to increase this number to 25 by the end of the year, enabling more extensive participation in future competitions.

Meanwhile, Mr. Amofah, President of the GBF, explained that the introduction of bowling to the African Games had been delayed due to the lack of a world-class bowling alley in Ghana. However, efforts are now underway to build such a facility to support the sport's growth and develop top-tier bowlers.

"We are introducing bowling at the school level to form a team to represent Ghana at international championships," Mr. Amofah emphasized.

Danny Santos, a senior official from both the IBF and the Asian Bowling Federation, praised the GBF's initiatives. He noted that the IBF is supporting Ghana's efforts by donating essential bowling equipment, to help develop the sport in the country.
