Dominic Barrett and Santtu Tahvanainen are in the top 12 after the first round of qualifying at the Roth/Holman PBA Doubles Championship.
Sixty-four pairs of PBA bowling players participate in the event.
The Englishman sits in second place with his comrade Anthony Simonsen, while Finland's rising bowling star is in ninth with American Sean Lavery-Spahr.
Patrick Hanrahan and Mitch Hupé dominated the first round of qualification. The former Wichita State Shocker teammates averaged over 252 on the 38-foot Holman pattern while shooting 3,027 for their 12 total games.
After the first qualification round, Hanrahan believes that the time-tested right-lefty tandem of him and Hupé is the optimal strategy for a doubles tournament.
'The best doubles teams have a good mixture between really good chemistry and talent,' Hanrahan said. 'We've been bowling together for so long that it's easy to help him make a move or have him help me make a move just because I've watched his ball go down the lane so many times.'
The top 12 teams will advance after today's six games on the 42-foot Roth pattern.
