Josie Barnes claimed the 2025 USBC Queens title on Tuesday night at Suncoast Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, defeating Malaysia’s Sin Li Jane 211–198 in the championship match.
The win marks Barnes’ first Queens title, second career major, and fifth overall PWBA title.
Barnes entered the stepladder finals as the top seed after an undefeated run through match play, where she took 6 straight wins. Earlier in the qualifiers, Barnes finished at the bottom of the top 50, then slowly climbed her way up, qualifying in 13th position.
In the title match, Barnes capitalized on early mistakes by Sin, who opened three times in the first six frames. Barnes stayed clean, throwing three strikes between frames two and five to build a lead of over 50 pins. Despite Sin’s efforts to mount a comeback, Barnes shut the door with a spare and strike in the 10th frame.
Sin, who was chasing a Triple Crown and coming off two wins earlier in the stepladder, took home $30,000 for her runner-up finish.
The stepladder finals began with No. 5 seed Clara Guerrero of Colombia edging out No. 4 seed Valerie Bercier in a high-scoring match, 237–233.
Guerrero then faced Sin in a dramatic second match. Despite opening early, Sin finished with five strikes to win 238–236.
In the semifinal, Sin took on fellow Malaysian Nur Hazirah Ramli, who had impressed all week in her PWBA debut. After trailing early, Sin closed with seven strikes in a row to win 235–211.
With this victory, Barnes secured her first Queens tiara along with the $60,000 top prize.
