The 2024 IBF World Youth Championships launched with a dazzling opening ceremony with Taekwondo and a popular K-Pop group performances, setting a tone for the championships.
The championship, scheduled from July 7 to 18, is taking place at the Fiesta Bowling Center in Incheon. The complete IBF event schedule can be found here.
The ceremony opened with the speech of Sheikh Talal Mohammed Al-Sabah, President of the International Bowling Federation (IBF), joining him were prominent figures including Jeong Suk, President of the Korean Bowling Association (KBA), IBF CEO Michael Seymour, and Tournament Director Maradona Chok.
This year's championships see participation from 142 boys, 91 girls, and 67 team officials representing 38 countries.
The action begins with Singles qualifying rounds from July 10-12, followed by Doubles from July 12-14, and Team of 4 events on July 15-16. The Mixed Team of 4 competition will be held on July 17, culminating in the finals for all events on July 18.
Participating countries: Australia, Canada, Chinese Taipei, Colombia, Czech Republic, Finland, Germany, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Kuwait, Lithuania, Macau, Malaysia, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Nigeria, Norway, Oman, Peru, Philippines, Poland, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Romania, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, United States, and Vietnam.
The 2024 World Youth Championships is not the sole global youth bowling event this year. The 2024 Youth World Cup was held in Lima, Peru from January 19 to 26, where Robin Ilhammar of Sweden and Costa Rica's Elena Weinstok won gold.
