Tackett and Svensson will face off in the 2025 PBA Playoffs Championship

The final match of the 2025 PBA Playoffs is set. EJ Tackett and Jesper Svensson will battle for the championship title in a Race-to-Three format on May 24, live on FOX from Thunderbowl Lanes in Allen Park, Michigan. In the semifinals, Tackett continued his dominant season with a convincing 2-0 win over Graham Fach. He opened the match with a strong 250-193 victory, followed by a 210-190 win in Game 2.

Svensson, on the other hand, delivered his best performance of the playoffs so far. After two low-scoring matches in previous rounds, the Swedish left-hander stepped up in his semifinal against Chris Via.

Sharp-eyed fans may have noticed that Jesper Svensson was competing on both sides of the Atlantic—first in the Swedish League finals with Team Pergamon, then in the PBA Playoffs semifinals against Chris Via. In the pre-recorded match, he won the first game 202-186 and exploded in the second with a 248-172 finish. Striking on his first six shots in Game 2, Svensson booked his return to the PBA Playoffs title match.

Svensson will be looking to make up for last year’s loss in the championship to David Krol. Svensson already claimed a major title this season by winning the PBA Tournament of Champions and will now aim for back-to-back wins.

Tackett, meanwhile, has been on a tear throughout the 2025 season. He leads the tour in points and is widely seen as the frontrunner for Player of the Year. A win in the PBA Playoffs final would be his fifth title this season and push his earnings close to the all-time single-season record.

With one of the sport’s most dominant right-handers going up against one of the strongest lefties, and two dominating bowling brands this year, fans can expect a thrilling conclusion to the 2025 PBA Playoffs.
