The 43rd Malaysian International Open 2025 wrapped up with an emotional victory for a seasoned champion and a surprising win from a rising star. Held at Sunway Mega Lanes in Petaling Jaya, the tournament brought together top bowlers from across Asia and beyond.
Sin Li Jane Claims Her Second Malaysian Open Title
In the women’s Masters division, Malaysia’s Sin Li Jane claimed her second Malaysian Open title. She beat Singapore’s New Hui Fen in the final match, winning 222–198. This win came nine years after her first title in 2016. Li Jane was the top seed heading into the stepladder finals, thanks to a strong performance in the earlier rounds with a 1,825 total.
Sin Li Jane's victory carried personal meaning. After the match, she shared that she had made a promise to her late grandfather, who passed away just days before the tournament, that she would anything it takes to win the title. “He was always there for me during my early days in bowling. He was my rock and always proud of what I achieved.” she said.
15-Year-Old Ethan Goh Stuns the Field
In the men’s Masters category, all eyes were on defending champion Mohd Hafiz Zainuddin. However, it was 15-year-old Ethan Damien Goh who stole the spotlight. Representing Malaysia’s national back-up squad, Ethan delivered a composed and confident performance to defeat Hafiz 220–180 in the final.
This was Ethan’s first Masters title, and it came with a RM50,000 (10,000 Euros) prize. Li Jane took home RM30,000 (6,000 Euros) for her win.
Li Jane will now head to Singapore for the Sonic International Classic from April 23–26, before flying to the United States to compete in the PWBA Tour.
