The prestigious BowlingGP France Senior 2024 has officially kicked off in the picturesque Normandy region, at Bowling Plaza Rouen Grand-Quevilly, with two exciting opening squads setting the stage for a thrilling competition.
In the Men’s division, Guy Virlogeux had a strong start, securing the win in Squad 3 with a total of 1353 pins (225.5 avg.). Alessandra Morra dominated the Women’s division with an impressive 1343 total (212.83 avg.), clinching the squad win.
In the Scratch divisions, Alexandre Petitjean (1278 total) took the Men’s title, while Stéphanie Samson claimed the Women’s Scratch title with 1300 pins. Meanwhile, Frederic Gordon (1341 total) and Nadia Gordon (1169 total) emerged as the best players in the Local Men’s and Women’s divisions, respectively.
The intensity rose in Squad 4, where Germany’s Frank Öing delivered a standout performance, winning the squad with a total score of 1362 pins (227 avg.), placing him in the overall lead after Day 1 of the BowlingGP France Senior 2024. Marine Lancien of France captured the Women’s Squad 4 title with a 1283 total (213.83 avg.), with both players also securing the Scratch division wins for their respective squads.
A surprise came in the Men's Local division, where Johann Lacroix—who only began bowling last April with the Leopards Bowling Club—scored an impressive 1267 total (211.16 avg.) to claim the Local Player award. Nadia Gordon continued to shine, winning the Women’s Local division in Squad 4 with a 1167 total.
The competition continues tomorrow with three more qualification squads, starting at 10 AM local time.
Over 140 senior bowlers aged 50 and above are competing in this prestigious International Senior Bowling Tour (ISBT) tournament, officially recognized by both the European Bowling Federation (EBF) and the International Bowling Federation (IBF).
With a total prize pool of €33,000, including €3,000 each for the top men’s and women’s champions, the BowlingGP France Senior 2024 promises to be an unforgettable event filled with fierce competition.
