Ten Europeans take action at the U.S. Women’s Open

The 2023 U.S. Women's Open, the second major on the schedule of the Professional Women's Bowling Association (PWBA) Tour, begins today.

Ten European bowling sharks are competing in the U.S. Women's Open this year - Anneli Blomqvist, Verity Crawley, Eliisa Hiltunen, Ani Juntunen, Peppi Konsteri, Dasha Kovalova, Birgit Noreiks, Sanna Oksanen, Daria Pajak, and Diana Zavjalova.

Three eight-game qualifying rounds (24 games total) for the U.S. Women's Open will be played, beginning Thursday at 2 PM CET, to determine which 36 out of 108 competitors will move on to a fourth eight-game block.

A different oil pattern will be present in each of the four rounds.

After 32 games, round-robin match play will start for 24 athletes on Sunday.

The fourth oil pattern will be used for the remainder of the competition.

The five players who advance to the stepladder finals in match-play will be determined by total pinfall and bonus pins for each victory over the course of three eight-game rounds of match-play.

The total prize fund for the U.S. Women's Open 2023 is nearly $280,00
