Shannon Pluhowsky of Dayton, Ohio, is leading the 2024 USBC Queens after the qualifying rounds at The Ashwaubenon Bowling Alley in Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Pluhowsky posted a final qualifying block score of 1,210 with games of 268, 269, 197, 269, and 207, bringing her total to 3,545. This is the third-highest 15-game qualifying total in the tournament's history, behind Carolyn Dorin-Ballard’s 3,636 in 2010 and Birgit Noreiks’s 3,601 in 2016.
Jillian Martin is in second place with 3,456, followed by Liz Kuhlkin at 3,301. Diana Zavjalova of Latvia (3,293) and Juliana Franco of Colombia (3,284) complete the top five.
Defending champion Lindsay Boomershine of Brigham City, Utah, finished the qualifiers tied for 31st. Bailey Delrose took the final spot for match play and will face Pluhowsky in the first round.
Ten European bowlers made the show at the 2024 USC Masters. Alongside Latvia's Zavjalova, who performed best among European bowlers, stands Birgit Noreiks of Germany (7th), Anna Andersson of Sweden (9th), Verity Crawley of England (17th), Laura Beuthner of Germany (32nd), Dasha Kovalova of Ukraine (33rd), Nora Johansson of Sweden (35th), Finns Eliisa Hiltunen (37th) and Peppi Konsteri (45th), and Sandra de Neergaard of Sweden (62nd).
The top 64 bowlers will begin double-elimination match play on Sunday. The finals will be broadcast live on CBS Sports Network on Tuesday, with the winner receiving a tiara and a $60,000 prize. All preliminary rounds will be streamed live on BowlTV.
