The Professional Bowlers Association (PBA) Playoffs have reached a fever pitch as the Final Four contenders gear up for the semifinal round. After a series of electrifying quarterfinal matches, two-time defending champion Kyle Troup, Bill O’Neill, Jesper Svensson, and David Krol have emerged as the top contenders vying for the PBA Tour title.
In a surprising turn of events, David "Bogg" Krol outplayed the favored EJ Tackett 257-213. The victor of the PBA Delaware Classic, David Krol, rallied from a sluggish beginning to clinch victory over EJ Tackett, who was considered one of the top contenders for this year's PBA Playoffs.
Bill O’Neill, the 2020 PBA Playoffs champion, demonstrated his championship pedigree by securing a semifinal berth with a solid victory over his doubles partner Jason Belmonte, prevailing with a score of 238-206. With an impressive track record throughout the season (4th place in rank and earnings), O’Neill aims to add another title to his major earned in PBA Players Championship presented by Snickers back in January.
Jesper Svensson, the sole international bowling player left in PBA Playoffs, delivered a masterful performance in the quarterfinals, nearly achieving perfection with 10 consecutive strikes against Marshall Kent. Despite challenge, Svensson's dominance on the lanes proved too much for Kent, securing his spot in the semifinals with a score of 289-224.
Meanwhile, two-time defending champion Kyle Troup showcased his prowess by outmaneuvering Anthony Simonsen. Troup's crucial strikes in the later frames, propelled him to victory with a score of 234-225, keeping his threepeat bid alive.
The semifinal matchups set to unfold on Sunday, May 19, at AMF Kissimmee in Kissimmee, Fla. O’Neill will face off against Krol in the first match, while Troup squares off against Svensson in the second.
