Nearly 20 European players are gearing up to compete in the H. H. Amir Cup 2024, Qatar’s premier bowling event, taking place from December 8 to 14 at the Qatar International Bowling Center in Doha.
Following a successful return last year, the tournament maintains its exciting format, allowing players unlimited qualifying attempts as long as spots are available.
The preliminary rounds consist of three sets of three games, with the combined nine-game total determining the top 28 players who advance to the finals on December 13. Additional spots in the finals will be secured by six top local bowlers and the two best desperado qualifiers.
The finals promise intense action. Players ranked 7–36 will compete in Final Stage 1, bowling eight games starting from scratch, with the top 14 advancing to join the top six qualifiers in Final Stage 2. From there, bowlers will play another eight games from scratch, with the top five progressing to a single-game stepladder format.
The grand prize of $25,000 awaits the champion, while the runner-up will take home $16,000, part of a generous $110,000 prize pool.
This year’s competition features strong international representation. Currently, 17 European bowlers are registered, including Christopher Sloan, Martin Larsen, and two past H.H. Amir Cup winners—Kim Bolleby and Tomas Käyhkö.
