Claudia Annella and Iraklis Kyriakou Win Singles Gold at Mediterranean Bowling Championship 2025

The Singles competition at the Mediterranean Bowling Championship 2025 got off to a strong start at the Rollhouse Bowling Center in Ankara, Turkey. Bowlers from nine countries competed in a six-game block, where the total pinfall determined the winners.
In the women's Singles event, Italy’s Claudia Annella dominated the lanes. With a total of 1280 pins and an average of 213.33, she took the gold medal with an impressive lead of 76 pins. Second place went to Gülhanım Birinci from Turkey, who finished with 1204 pins and an average of 200.67. Just behind her was Celia Jeanne Delafosse from France, who rolled a steady 1200 for an even 200 average and secured the bronze medal.
The men's Singles event featured an outstanding performance by Iraklis Kyriakou from Cyprus. He delivered the highest score of the day—1509 pins across six games—averaging an impressive 251.50. His consistent strike power gave him a massive lead of 158 pins over the rest of the field. Mauro Anastasi of Malta claimed silver with a score of 1351 and an average of 225.17. Close behind was Cemal Batu Pınar from France with 1347 pins and a 224.50 average, earning the bronze.
The Mediterranean Bowling Championship 2025 features athletes from Cyprus, France, Italy, Kosovo, Malta, Portugal, Spain, Tunisia, and host nation Turkey.
Following the Singles event, the action will continue tomorrow with the Doubles event in both men’s and women’s categories, using the same six-game format.
Later in the week, the competition will move on to the Team event, which will be played in two blocks of three games.
The tournament will conclude with the exciting Masters event, where the top eight bowlers from the all-events standings will compete in head-to-head matchplay to determine the champions.
