Izz Naqiuddin and Nur Syazwani Win Kuala Lumpur International Open Bowling Championship 2025

The Kuala Lumpur International Open Bowling Championship 2025 concluded at Sunway Mega Lanes in Petaling Jaya with national bowlers Izz Naqiuddin Putera Islahuddin and Nur Syazwani Sahar winning the Mixed Open and Women’s Open divisions.

21-year-old Izz Naqiuddin won the Mixed Open division with a total of 1,993 pinfalls over 10 games. He finished ahead of Azriq Izam (1,951) and Ahmad Aidil Abdul Halim (1,882).

Izz began his series with a 246 and followed with a 290 to take an early lead. He extended his advantage with three consecutive high-scoring games of 255, 252, and 257. A total of 36 bowlers competed in the final, including national team members and international bowlers such as Thailand’s Yannaphon Larpapharat and Indonesia’s Ryan Lalisang.

This was Izz’s third career title, following previous wins at the Penang Pesta International (2023) and the Sonic Classic in Singapore (2024). He received RM30,000 ($7000) in prize money. Azriq and Ahmad Aidil earned RM15,000 ($3,500) and RM8,000 ($1,900), respectively.

Nur Syazwani Sahar won the Women’s Open title with 1,776 pinfalls, placing 10th overall in the combined standings. She started the block with a perfect 300 game, overcame lane issues mid-series, and finished with a 243 in the final game.

Syazwani had returned to Malaysia just days earlier after finishing tied for 13th at the USBC Queens in the United States. She received RM7,000 ($1,600) as the women’s champion.

Faten Najihah Ahmad Faik and Lavinia Kho Jia Jie placed second and third among women, earning RM4,000 ($900) and RM2,000 ($470), respectively.
