Finland's Tomas Käyhkö, who finished 19th in points during the 2023 season, did not place higher than 35th in any of the five PBA Tour events during the 2024 season. However, the 27-year-old Finn has now positioned himself just one victory away from securing his inaugural PBA Tour title at the PBA Delaware Classic.
Käyhkö claimed the top seed position in the stepladder finals after defeating Jason Belmonte in the Round of 8 and Tom Smallwood in the Round of 16 earlier on Friday.
If successful, this achievement could signify the first PBA Tour title for a European bowler since Dominic Barrett of England accomplished the feat on March 24th, 2022, at the Storm Cup Colorado Springs Open.
This event will mark Käyhkö's second career appearance in TV finals, following his participation in the 2023 U.S. Open show where he secured a third-place finish.
Käyhkö is followed by PBA Tour stepladder first-timer David Krol, securing the second seed, and championship round second-timer Tim Foy Jr., who is in fourth. Bill O’Neill, the season leader in points, made his fourth championship round appearance, while EJ Tackett will strive to secure his first season title from the No. 5 seed.
The PBA Delaware Classic finals will be held Today at 6 PM CET on FS1.
