English Open 2025

One of the UK’s biggest bowling tournaments is back. The English Open 2025 will take place at Stroud Bowl in Gloucestershire from 26 September to 5 October. This year’s event promises exciting competition, more than £20,000 prize fund, including a guaranteed £3,500 for first place, and a fresh structure that gives more bowlers a chance to reach the finals.

The format starts with a six-game qualifier, where bowlers can re-enter as many times as they want to improve their score. The top 28 players from the overall standings will move straight to the finals. On top of that, additional spots are given to players from Early Bird squads, the Desperado squad, and those who just missed out but are top ladies, seniors, or youth players under 21.

In total, 40 bowlers will qualify for the finals. Players ranked 1 to 6 will skip straight to Final Step 3, while those ranked 7 to 12 will enter in Final Step 2. The remaining bowlers will start from Final Step 1.

The final round will see the top 8 bowlers battle it out over four games to decide the 2025 English Open Champion.

Entry fees range from £70 to £120 depending on the squad, with re-entries starting at £50. The closing date for entries is Sunday, 21 September 2025 at 11:59 PM. Payments are made at the venue before each squad.

The prize fund is based on 175 first entries and 150 re-entries. Cash prizes will be awarded down to 40th place, with second place taking £2,500 and third place £1,750.

The English Open 2025 is supported by sponsors including Big Bear Bolts, Bowling Vision, Brunswick, Molson Coors, Strike Shack, and more. Tournament director Mark Patrick, along with officials Ben Robinson and Simon Bartram, will oversee the event.

For anyone looking to test their skills in a top-tier competition or enjoy a great week of bowling, the English Open 2025 is a date to mark on the calendar. Some squads are almost fully booked, so wait no longer!
