The much-anticipated Bourgas Open Summer Tournament came to a thrilling conclusion in 23rd of July, with more than 40 participants gathering at 'Playground Bowling' in Bourgas, Bulgaria, to showcase their bowling prowess. The event showcased fierce qualifications, dramatic final stages, and exhilarating stepladder matches that kept the audience on the edge of their seats.
Group A saw 21 talented players competing for 16 spots n the finals. Among them was Arseniy Podlipsky, the runner-up from the Youth Republican Championship, who displayed remarkable skills and claimed the top position with an impressive 1104 points. Later on, with more squads being played, Mariana Meteksinova managed to surge ahead, seizing the leading spot with a score of 1114 points and an outstanding 222.8 average.
The climactic stepladder match in Group A was a contest between the defending champion, Dian Dinev, and Bulgaria's best lefty, Darin Trayanov. The two talented bowlers battled it out, and with a score of 222 to 187, Darin Trayanov emerged triumphant, securing the prestigious title in Group A.
Meanwhile, in Group B, seventeen athletes showcased their skills, and it was Zhivko Dimitrov who held onto the top spot throughout the entire week with an impressive 1024 points. The competition in Group B was fierce, with the cut line scores being incredibly tight. Last year's winner, Valentin Dimitrov, managed to qualify for the finals by a mere 3 points, scoring a commendable 953 points.
The Group B final replayed the thrilling showdown from the previous year, with Valentin Dimitrov and Ivaylo Zhekov competing for the championship title. In a breathtaking display of skill, every shot mattered, with the scores being incredibly close – a mere 5 points separated them. In the end, Ivaylo Zhekov emerged as the victor, claiming the championship match with a score of 177 to 172 points.
The competition wasn't just limited to individual achievements; doubles also brought out the best in the players.
The Doubles category saw players teaming up before each squad. Plamen Stanchev and Stoyan Arsov formed an impressive duo and secured the top position in the category with a remarkable total of 2152 points and an average of 215.2.
The highest game of the Bourgas Open was achieved by the formidable Dian Dinev, who achieved a remarkable 279 points, while Rudolf Podlipsky displayed an unwavering dedication to the sport, playing a total of 9 squads, making him the most active player in the 2023 Bourgas Open.
