Crawley and Zavjalova Shine at PWBA Greater Detroit Open


Professional Women’s Bowling Association (PWBA) Greater Detroit Open

England’s Verity Crawley and Latvia’s Diana Zavjalova delivered stellar performances, securing their spots in the match play stage of the Professional Women’s Bowling Association (PWBA) Greater Detroit Open.


Crawley put together a solid performance with a total of 2,699 pins, placing her third after the qualifying round, while Zavjalova finished seventh in the standings with 2,620 pins.


Leading the pack after the 12-game qualifying round was Singapore’s Cherie Tan, who averaged an impressive 227.2 to finish with a total of 2,726 pins.


The upcoming match play round promises to be a thrilling affair, with the top 12 players from the qualifying round advancing.


Alongside Tan, Crawley and Zavjalova, the field includes standout performers such as Singapore’s New Hui Fen, USA's Crystal Elliott, Erin McCarthy, Ashly Galante, Summer Jasmin, Shannon Pluhowsky, Bryanna Coté, Julia Bond, and Maryssa Carey all vying for a spot in the top five and a chance to compete in the stepladder finals.


Match play begins at 3 PM CET, with the top five advancing to the stepladder finals later today to compete for the $10,000 top prize.


The PWBA Pepsi Open, the second event of Tour Championship Week, starts Friday with a similar format.
