Swede and Malaysian Lead the IBF World Youth Cup 2024 after Round 2

In Qualification Round 2 of bowling World Youth Cup 2024, Sweden's Robin Ilhammar really stepped up with 1359 total, allowing him claim the overall lead with a total score of 2,703 (225.25 avg.). Meanwhile, in the girl's division, Nur Hazirah Binti Ramli from Malaysia is currently in lead with 2452 total, rocking an average of 204.33 over 12 games.


The remaining top five positions in boy's division were secured by Day 1 leader Samuel Calderon from Colombia (2677 total), along with Megat Zaqrul Msiqal from Malaysia and Aiman Raedyn Lim Jen from Singapore (both with 2592 total), and Diego Aguilar from Guatemala, scoring 2581.


Mateo Gordienko from Costa Rica currently holds the 16th and final boy's division advancing spot with a score of 2163. However, his position is tenuous, with four competitors trailing him by less than 100 pins as they head into the last six-game qualifying block today.


In the girl's division, Sara Duque of Colombia, the leader after the opening round, now trails Nur Hazirah Binti Ramli by 41 pins, with a total score of 2411. The remaining positions in the girl's top five are occupied by Sweden's Nora Johansson (2382), who rebounded after a challenging first 6-game block, Eliska Krummerova from the Czech Republic (2378), and Peru's Yumi Yuzuriha (2343).


Following the completion of the qualifying rounds, the top 14 female and the top 16 male athletes will advance to round-robin match play.


The bowling Youth World Cup 2024 is being held at the Videna Bowling Center in La Villa Deportiva Nacional, Lima, Peru, this year.


25 countries will compete in this year's Youth World Cup - Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Costa Rica, Czech Republic, Germany, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Italy, Kuwait, Malaysia, México, Netherlands, Perú, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Qatar, Romania, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, United States, Uruguay and Wales.


The bowling Youth World Cup 2024 is not the sole global youth bowling event this year. The 2024 IBF Youth World Championships are scheduled to occur in Incheon, Korea, from July 7th to July 18th, 2024. The complete IBF event schedule can be found here.
