The second major of the 2025 PWBA season is officially underway as the U.S. Women’s Open 2025 kicked off today at Sun Valley Lanes in Lincoln, Nebraska. A total of 30 players advanced from the pre-tournament qualifier (PTQ) earlier today to complete the main field of 108 competitors.

Leading the PTQ was Denise Blankenzee of Huntsville, Texas, who rolled a total of 1,627 across eight games to claim the top spot heading into the main event.

The competition now continues with the full field of athletes chasing the green jacket, eagle trophy, and $60,000 top prize. One of the returning contenders is last year’s champion, Sin Li Jane of Malaysia, who won the 2024 title by defeating Diana Zavjalova of Latvia in the final. This year, she’ll be joined by a strong Malaysian contingent, with five additional teammates earning their spots through the PTQ.

After today’s PTQ, players will get a full day of practice on Wednesday to test all four oil patterns that will be used throughout the week. Qualifying begins Thursday, June 12, and runs through Saturday, June 14, with three squads per day each bowling eight games.

The top third of the field will advance to the final qualifying round on Sunday, June 15. The top 24 after that round will move on to round-robin match play, culminating in the stepladder finals on Tuesday, June 17, broadcast live on CBS Sports Network at 7 p.m. Eastern.
